Do you have any organization tips you would like to share?
I keep small supplies like buttons and bells in glass jars for easy viewing/storage. I also keep my patterns in a vintage suitcase. My fabrics are folded and kept in large clear plastic storage bins, assorted by colors.
Tell us about your "ideal" workspace/studio
My ideal studio would be a log cabin cottage with large windows over looking a lake nestled amoung trees.
What are your fav techniques?
coffee staining with cinnamon, The grungier the better.
Who or what inspires you?
Nature, antiques, old wooden primitive items, farms, 1800 era
What do you collect?
farm & kitchen primitives, old wooden buckets, grain measures anything that looks grungy and old.
What type medium/style of art have you NOT tried that you would like to learn?
I would like to try rug hooking.
What would you be doing if you were not creating folk art?
If I was not creating folk art I would have to say that I would want to work with helping animals.
What is the best thing about creating primitive/folk art?
The best thing I love about creating primitive & folk art is the opportunity to be creative and the gratification and honor of having someone purchase my item and display that item in their home.
What is the most frustrating thing about creating prim folk art?
The most frustrating thing about creating primitive & folk art is having a creative block.
How many hours a week do you spend creating?
It varies, from 25 hours to 40 hours or more a week, depends on what I am working on and what I need to get done.
What is your favorite room in your home and why?
I would have to say my back patio is my favorite area. I love the outdoors.
How do you manage your time between family, home and creating?
I usually work during the day so in the evening I have time to spend with my family.
Do you have any advice for an artist wanting to break into selling prim/folk art?
Enjoy what you do and put your heart into it.
What other prim artists influence and inspire you?
All other artists inspire me.
